I am currently very much enjoying my work on a Missa Brevis for Brecon Cathedral Choir and their wonderful new MD David Stevens, to be premiered during the Brecon Choir Festival next July (TBC).
Commissioned for the cathedral by Laura Woodside-Jones, I am setting four movements of the mass (the Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus and Agnus Dei) in English, and it is shaping up to be a joyous, reflective, compact and accessible setting, suitable for church choirs far and wide!
The work includes the subtitle ‘Cribyn Mass’, referring one of the smaller Brecon beacons!
