A 10-minute String Quartet has been co-commissioned by the Romsey Chamber Music Festival and the Presteigne Festival for performance next year (Romsey – 31st May, Presteigne – 29th August).
Initially inspired by a series ‘grass studies’ by artist Charles MacCarthy which immediately suggested music to me when I first saw them a decade ago, the piece also features the Welsh jig Y Derwyyd (The Druid).
It will be performed by Emma Roijackers and Laura Rickard – Violins, Kyungsik Shin (Romsey) / Jose Nunes (Presteigne) – Viola, and Rainer Crosett – ‘cello.
