The ‘Early’ of the title refers to both the time in my life in which these songs were written, as well as the portrayal of young love. An adolescent, love-struck mix of sentiment, naivety, hurt, longing, obsession etc pervades these settings, where a more typically fulfilled romanticism is never quite achieved.
